Due Monday 5/7

To Eat, or Not to Eat, That is the Question:

During Thursday night's reading, the family gathered at Mrs. Scarlatti's restaurant to enjoy a delicious dinner put together by the middle son, Ezra Tull. This dinner becomes an outrageous event, and Mrs. Scarlatti is left at the table alone as the entire Tull family leaves.

On your personal blog, please compare this dinner with the previous family dinner we have seen. What do you notice about the family when they are gathered around the table? What role does each member play? How have the dynamics of the family changed since that first dinner? How have they remained almost exactly the same? Take the time to read both selections again and be specific in your response.

See you on Monday!

Oh, Pearl.

After reading the first chapter, and being introduced to Pearl's perspective on life, I would like you to please discuss the impact she had on her children (how do you think her children feel about her; cite an example to back up your thoughts), the questions she still has about life, as well as the incident with the bow and arrow. She was shot!

What are your thoughts and opinions on these things?

Is there anything else on which you would like to comment? Please feel free to do so.

This post must be completed by the start of class on Tuesday, May 1, for full credit! Thank you!

2. What do you believe the effects of favoritism are on both the favored sibling and the other siblings, who are not the chosen ones?

3. Then, ask your parents if they have a favorite child. Write what they say. It will be interesting to hear their theories behind favoritism!
